Our lives changed the moment Abigail was born and the hospital staff whisked her away to the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) with severe meconium aspiration. The nurses all told us, “your baby will be up to your room in a few hours”. They were wrong!

The next day Abigail was transferred to Egleston Children’s Hospital as a candidate for the ECMO (heart & lung by pass) machine. We PRAISED God that she did not have to go on the ECMO machine but that joy was short lived! At 8 days of life doctors informed us Abigail had suffered a stroke and had severe right side brain damage. The right side of the brain controls the motor skills on the left side of the body, therefore Abigail has left side hemiplegia.
Also, could be known as cerebral palsey which affects motor skills. Her medical diagnosis is encephalomalacia which means deteriorating or softening of the brain. Doctors were unsure if Abigail would ever crawl..walk…talk or do anything a normal baby and toddler should do. But, God is good… His ways are righteous and just… He continues to lead and guide us to the right doctors, therapists and developmental studies.
